Due to two monsoon seasons Sri Lanka is a year-round holiday destination. When it is raining on one coast it is sunny on another, meaning that you can always find a good weather in Sri Lanka.
West and East coats of Sri Lanka
The west side of the island has a perfect weather between November and April and the east side between May and October.
An inter-monsoonal season lasts during October and the first half of November, when it can rain across the whole island. However the weather is still hot and frequent and sometimes heavy rains are typically followed by sunshine.
Central Sri Lanka
The weather in the Central Sri Lanka is influenced by both monsoons.
Central Sri Lanka is a mountainous region with a cool climate and often cloudy weather.
The average annual temperature in Nuwara Eliya, the largest city in the tea hills in the central Sri Lanka, is about 16 °C which is almost twice less than in the coastal parts of the island.
The best time to visit the Central Sri Lanka is between December and May when the number of rainy days is lower and the visibility is better.
